Undo the positive on the battery then unplug both wires going into the parking netural sensor wait 10 minutes put on the postive to the battery wait 10 mins then plug it back in. If you dont shift it into neutral the 4wd light will continue to flash and wont get into gear. Its possible you have a bad ignition switch. To get the light to work you hold Fn then left shift and the Fn key will light it up and the Fn keys will work like f1-f12 and do the same to turn it off so the hot keys work instead. Obtain a new PNP switch kit PN 29540479 from the Parts Department.
If any of the shift conditions are not met the indicator position light will continue to flash.
Once you find the fuse box or boxes remove the lid and check the diagram on the underside of the lid for a fuse labeled dash lights or just lights 4 X Research source Refer to your owners manual if you have trouble locating the fuse boxes or the dashboard light fuse. Will reset and many times fix the problem. Then sometimes it is dim and sometimes it is as bright as the odometer. When the shift is complete the indicator light for the selected position will stop flashing and remain ON. I too thought it lit up when she first got it. Shifter indicator lights not working.
