Mercedes Sl500 Convertible Top Not Working. This is very sad cuz now I have it sitting in my garage. With years of d. 1998 sl500 convertible top will not go down or close properly one of the recievers is closed other open. MERCEDES BENZ SL R230 Convertible retracting top rubbing 2003 SL R230 I have no idea when this problem started but upon the final closing sequence of the truck lid rotating down to conceal the folding roof the truck lid just slightly comes in contact with both sides of the top corners of the each rear left right quarter panel.

The switch just blinks when I try to lower the topIt seems to work when I hit the switch to close. The trunk lid only latched on the right side after lowering the convertible top. If you cannot get the hardtop to work and the switch indicator light is flashing it may be jammed.
