Woofrigginhoo for simple cheap fixes. I had the same problem with my 2002 Cavalier the cooling fan wasnt kicking on and it was overheating when idle or in traffic. New relay switch at OReilys12 bucksfan is working now. Both of these relays have a separate hot wire to the fan. The engine cooling fan is designed to move air through the radiator when the vehicleis at slower speeds or stoppedThis air flow removes heat from the coolant created by the engine using the radiator as a conductor. Still problem is the same.
Have a hard code on the engine saying Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit.
